What is tabless design and why should I care?
Well, in the early days of web design, in order to create a layout for a web page, we had to use tables to position the various elements on the web page so that they stayed where we wanted them. This was very laborious when trying to accomplish this by hand; as such, HTML editors such as Frontpage, Dreamweaver, Cold Fusion and others were developed to speed up the process. The problem with these applications is that it allowed the user to create HTML pages without actually writing any code. If you don't understand the code that is being produced, you couldn't possibly understand the significance of it's importance. Furthermore, the code that is produced by these application often does not comply with the latest standards.
There are many that will argue... So what? Who cares? Many websites still rank very well using tables for the web design. This is absolutely true; However, in the near future the standards employed by these antiquated web site designs will be phased out and no longer accepted causing the owner to pay for a new or re-design. As a website designer, this is great for them because it means more work in the future. We believe in given you the right tools for the job. The new technology standards for web design are already widely in use, why would you want to use anything else?
